Job summary

Long Beach Memorial Medical Center in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the Physical Rehabilitation unit. Under direct supervision, you will assist with activities of daily living and support unit operations during a night shift.

This role emphasizes patient comfort, safety, and privacy, with responsibilities including documenting care, recognizing changes in patient needs to the RN, maintaining equipment, and contributing to a collaborative rehab team.

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistants with 3 years of experience in an acute care facility or 5 years of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or sub-acute setting or nursing students actively enrolled in a nursing program who have completed the first semester of the nursing program.
• High school diploma or equivalency; CPR & AED certification required; Basic computer knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision of licensed personnel, the Patient Care Assistant performs activities of daily living for patients and assists with unit activities in Rehab.
• Recognizes and reports changing patient care needs to the registered nurse.
• Documents findings and maintains privacy in patient’s medical record.
• Provides emotional and physical comfort and maintains a safe environment; responsible for department equipment and reporting repairs.
