Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Polysomnographic Technician for the Sleep Lab at Jersey City Medical Center. The role supports comprehensive sleep testing and patient education in a per diem night-shift capacity.

Responsibilities include performing PSG/MSLT/MWT and PAP titrations, reviewing studies, and maintaining equipment per center protocols. NJ licensure and CPR/BLS are required, with ABSM/BRPT/NBRC registration preferred.

Qualifications

• Current New Jersey State License as a Polysomnographic Technologist and/or Respiratory Therapist.
• At least one year of experience as a Sleep Technologist.
• Current CPR or BLS certification.
• Registration by the ABSM, BRPT, or NBRC; certification alone does not meet NJ licensure.
• CCSH or qualification to obtain CCSH is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment support for sleep disorders per center protocols.
• Review patient history and verify medical orders prior to testing.
• Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to tailor care.
• Determine testing parameters with physicians and lab protocols.
• Perform PSG, MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies, PAP titrations, and oxygen titrations.
• Perform in-center and home sleep apnea testing as required.
• Educate patients about sleep procedures and testing.
• Review sleep studies and provide feedback to staff.
• Maintain equipment and inventory; assist sleep center leadership.
• Follow all sleep center policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
