Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking a Phlebotomist II to join Swedish Hospital in Chicago. The role involves venipuncture, specimen collection for diverse patient groups, and LIS/HIS systems support. Training responsibilities and inventory duties may be included.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, 1 year phlebotomy experience, and CPR-BLS certification. Strong communication and organizational skills are valued as is patient service excellence.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred but not required; CPR-BLS certification required.
• One year of phlebotomy experience required.
• Good communication and organization skills, moderate computer skills, strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary collection for inpatients and outpatients of all ages.
• Collect body fluids or other samples as needed (nasal/throat swabs, breath samples).
• Operate HIS/LIS systems and other resources to support lab services.
• Prepare and assist in processing blood and body fluid samples per guidelines.
• Assist in orientation and training of phlebotomy staff and students.
• Identify and address problems and notify supervisors as needed.
• Assist with inventory management duties.
• Ensure timely, appropriate handling of lab service requests.
• Provide professional phone coverage and maintain customer-oriented conduct.
