Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent is required.
• Current BLS certification within 7 days of hire.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain composure under stress.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Basic computer skills or ability to learn hospital computer systems.
• Effective communication with unit staff and other departments.
• Complete orientation requirements including hospital and unit-specific orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in neonatal to geriatric units and emergencies within scope.
• Performs patient assessments and vital signs as per policy.
• Obtains 12-lead EKGs and assists with resuscitation and airway procedures.
• Transports patients safely within the hospital and performs phlebotomy.
• Documents procedures and adheres to policies and HIPAA/ EMTALA laws.
• Assists with orientation of new staff, students and volunteers.
