Job summary

Memorial Healthcare System is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to work under the supervision of an RN in Hollywood, FL. Qualifications include BLS cards and no degree required, with competencies in accountability, patient-centered care, and safety.

Qualifications

• No degree is required; on-the-job training provided.
• BLS cards from American Heart Association or Red Cross are required.
• Six competency areas are expected: accountability, customer service, organization, patient-centered care, patient safety, and problem solving.
• Three months of patient care experience or completion of a formal training program is required.
• Ekg and phlebotomy competencies due within six months of hire date.
• Role emphasizes critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal care (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Assist with transporting patients as needed.
• Monitor patient status and report changes to nursing staff.
• Perform basic patient care tasks under RN supervision (vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy, glucose, intake/output).
• Maintain patient rooms and areas stocked, clean and orderly.
