Job summary

Saving Sight is seeking an Overnight Tissue Recovery Technician for night shifts. This part-time, on-call role focuses on procurement of ocular tissues and ensuring regulatory compliance in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

You will perform donor history reviews, specimen handling, and coordination across sites, with attention to detail, HIPAA requirements, and teamwork. On-call expectations include irregular hours with travel within the service region.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and phone communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited direction and collaboratively within a team.
• Demonstrates excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while managing multiple tasks and frequent interruptions.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, general database systems, and web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct procurement of ocular tissues from authorized donors.
• Review donor medical history, perform assessments, collect samples, and document data in the eye bank system.
• Prepare and transport ocular tissues and specimens to other locations as needed.
• Maintain SOPs, HIPAA compliance, and regulatory requirements, including annual competency reviews.
• After proficiency, assist in hands-on training in ocular tissue procurements.
• Maintain clear communication with team, leadership, and external partners.
• Assist with facility cleaning, equipment maintenance and other tasks.
