Overview
The Nurse Supervisor provides leadership,clinical oversight, direction, monitoring and training for all nursing andnursing related operations for the facility during your scheduled shiftincluding: clinical management of residents, customer satisfaction, regulatorycompliance with state and federal regulations, quality improvement andoutcomes, policy and procedure enforcement, and achieving operating plan goalsand nursing personnel (retention/training/supervision).
Essential JobFunctions
- Ensure all nursing staff understand and follow their respective jobdescriptions.
- Ensurethat nursing practice complies with regulatory and legislativerequirements.
- Ensure sufficient numbers of licensed and certified staff areavailable each shift to meet regulatory requirements and provideappropriate care to residents.
- Complete routine clinical rounds each day to ensure all staff areperforming work assignments in accordance with acceptable standards.
- Promote,establish, and maintain customer relationships with residents, families,staff, community, and other professionals.
- Review complaints and concerns made by families, residents and staff,communicate these concerns including follow up with the managers, orDirector of Nursing, or Administrator as appropriate.
- Ensurepolicies and procedures regarding communicable diseases, infectioncontrol, and isolation procedures as well as other systems pertinent tonursing are followed and maintained.
- Implementpolicies and procedures in collaboration with the Managers, Director ofNursing and Administrator.
- Provide support for staff competence with Point Click Care (PCC).
- Make written and verbalreports/recommendations to the Managers and Director of Nursing asnecessary concerning the operation of the nursing department.
- Assist and implement appropriate plans ofcorrection for safety concerns identified. Ensure assessments,evaluations, and charting is completed according to policy.
- Actively participate in Quality Assuranceand Performance Improvement (QAPI) program as directed by the managers orDirector of Nursing.
- Participate in routine and daily care ofresidents to include but not limited to assistance with ADLs, meals,eating, functional maintenance plans/nursing restorative plans, andactivities.
- Complete and deliver assigned staffperformance evaluations as directed.
- Ability to effectivelyprioritize and manage high levels of stress/conflict.
- Ability to lead byexample, identify and address challenges proactively.
- Must haveability/competency, and willingness to work as a direct care provider whennecessary.
- Ability to cope with mental and emotionalstress of the position and effectively communicate policies, procedures,and reports to employees, residents, family members, visitors, andgovernment agencies as needed.
- Must function independently, as well as amember of multiple teams, have flexibility, personal integrity, and theability to work effectively with residents, employees, regulators, thepublic, and support agencies.
- Must be able to relate to and work withill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile peoplewithin the nursing community.
- Able to move at least 35lbs. withoutassistance, able to bend, sit, and work in small areas and displaysstamina to assist residents where needed and in emergencies.
