Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA seeks an RN for the Neuro ICU to provide high-quality nursing care in a 12-bed unit specialized in non-traumatic brain injuries, stroke, and neuromuscular conditions.

The role requires coordination of care, patient advocacy, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. A Virginia RN license and BLS-HCP are required, with EPIC proficiency and potential ACLS/PALS/NRP depending on assignment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a professional nursing program; eligible to sit for Virginia licensure.
• Current Virginia RN licensure or eligible to obtain licensure.
• Basic life support (AHA BLS-HCP) required; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required depending on unit.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EPIC).

Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized nursing care for Neuro ICU patients across ages; assess, plan, implement, and evaluate.
• Perform age-specific admissions and ongoing assessments; revise care plan as needed.
• Collaborate with care team, patients and families to develop and evaluate interdisciplinary care plans.
• Administer and document treatments and medications using EPIC and other systems.
• Identify and document patient/family education needs; provide education accordingly.
• Contribute to performance improvement activities and advocate for patient rights.
