Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a night shift in Illinois. Must hold an active IL RN license and have at least 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience, with proficiency in cardiac monitoring and emergency response.

BLS/ACLS are required, NIHSS and CPI are preferred. Responsibilities include working in a Medical Surgical unit with a 1:6 patient ratio, night shifts (18:45-7:15), every other weekend, and floating as needed.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required (in hand).
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• NIHSS certification preferred.
• CPI certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required.
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
• Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias.

Responsibilities

• Medical Surgical unit setting.
• Patient ratio of 1:6.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15).
• Every other weekend required.
• Floating required.
• Uses Epic charting system.
• Cardiac telemetry monitoring, respiratory care, and tracheostomy care/management are part of the unit's work.
• Provide direct patient care in a medical surgical unit, including cardiac monitoring, respiratory care, and tracheostomy management.
• Complete facility orientation modules (non-billable, 2-3 hours).
• RTO limited to 7 days maximum, with no RTO during the first or last week of the contract.
• Former staff at this health system must have a 7-month gap since separation before returning as a traveler.
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Block scheduling is not accommodated.
