Description

Our heart, head and hands play a part in everything we do. By caring about the art of hospitality and perfecting every detail, we work together to uplift the lives of others. There is nothing quite like the satisfaction of providing an unrivalled service that is greatly admired.

The Night Manager plays an important role in the overall guest experience during the night, serving as the most senior manager on property overnight and holding crucial responsibility for guest safety, security and the continuity of service between the evening and morning shifts. They oversee all Front Office, Night Audit, Security, Concierge and Guest Service functions overnight, ensuring guests’ needs are met promptly and that service is delivered consistently in line with Corinthia’s quality standards. Acting as the hotel’s primary point of escalation and decision‑maker during the night, they manage emergencies, guest issues and operational irregularities, complete the night audit accurately, and prepare the hotel for a seamless handover to the day team each morning.

Responsibilities
  • Acting as Manager on Duty overnight, serving as the senior point of contact and decision‑maker for guests, colleagues, ownership and emergency services during night hours.
  • Completing the full night audit process — reconciling daily revenue, balancing accounts and preparing reports for the Finance and Front Office teams ahead of the morning shift.
  • In conjunction with the Finance department, ensuring accounting instructions are accurately managed overnight and that the Hotel credit policy is followed by the overnight Reception team.
  • Monitoring room availability, late arrivals, early departures and no‑shows overnight, and liaising closely with Reservations and Revenue Management at handover to support occupancy and rate goals.
  • Ensuring payroll and operating expenses for the overnight team are maintained in ratio with revenues earned (or other agreed targets).
  • Leading, supervising and supporting the overnight Front Office, Telecoms, Concierge, Guest Services and Security teams, ensuring they are correctly staffed, suitably trained and performing to the standard required on a skeleton crew.
  • Conducting regular inspections of guest floors, public areas and back‑of‑house spaces overnight, ensuring defects, safety hazards or security concerns are identified, reported and rectified.
  • Acting as first responder to emergencies, incidents, medical situations, fire alarms or security breaches during the night, following established SOPs and liaising with emergency services as required.
  • Maintaining effective communication with the Front Office Manager, Operations Manager and Managing Director, ensuring they are fully briefed each morning on overnight incidents, guest issues or operational matters.
  • Overseeing a smooth, detailed handover between the overnight team and the incoming day shift, ensuring all outstanding guest requests and issues are clearly documented and communicated.
  • Driving the Corinthia Values and philosophy within the overnight team, ensuring all SOPs and policies are well communicated and adhered to.
  • Assessing training needs of the night team using guest feedback, online reviews, incident reports and audits, and organising training in liaison with Operational Coaches.
  • Ensuring all new overnight team members receive appropriate training and cross‑training in the relevant departments.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a Night Manager, Overnight Manager or Duty Manager in a similar size and star‑rated hotel (Front Office Manager experience with strong night audit exposure also considered).
  • Strong background in Front of House/Front Office operations, with a proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision overnight.
  • Calm, composed and resourceful under pressure, with strong crisis‑management, judgment and problem‑solving skills.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English. Fluency in another language an advantage.
  • Knowledge of property management systems (e.g. Micros/Fidelio, Opera, etc.) and experience running end‑of‑day/night audit processes.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work overnight shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
