Qualifications

• Read basic technical documentation and drawings after training.
• Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, air gauges, bore gauges, etc.
• Ability to read and verify manufacturing order documentation.
• Read and understand written work.
• Ability to learn and be punctual.

Responsibilities

• Operate 2-5 axis CNC machine cells and standalone machines with basic setup.
• Load and adjust CNC programs and offsets.
• Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges and other inspection tools.
• Maintain DPR, lot traceability and production documentation.
• Keep work area organized and adhere to 6S.
• Support cross-training to operate additional machines.
• Follow safety guidelines and LOTO procedures.
• Meet production goals and quality standards.

Position Summary

Building upon level 1, with minimal assistance, the Machinist – Level 2 operates 2-5 axis CNC machine cells as well as standalone machines, which requires basic machine setup including preparing and setting up fixtures and cutting tools, as well as loading and adjusting CNC programs and offsets. The Machinist – Level 2 competencies include the ability to use more advanced quality inspection tools and techniques such as height and air gauges and bench inspection. The Machinist – Level 2 will have basic competencies in print reading and common CNC G and M codes. Typically 2-4 years of experience.
