Job summary

Cedar Falls Community Schools is hiring a Cleaning Custodian/Grounds Helper to maintain indoor and outdoor facilities to a safe, attractive standard for students. The role includes custodial tasks, grounds support, and occasional event setup.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience, plus a valid Iowa driver’s license. This full-time position requires standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and physical stamina.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• One year of job-related housekeeping/grounds maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Empties and sanitizes trash receptacles daily.
• Dust mops tiled floors and sweep debris daily.
• Spot mop floors and perform wet mopping as needed.
• Operate auto-scrubber and floor restorer weekly.
• Burnish floors when required.
• Vacuum carpets and entry mats regularly.
• Clean whiteboards/chalkboards and rails daily.
• Clean and sanitize sinks, restrooms, fixtures daily.
• Replenish paper towels and toilet tissue as needed.
• Clean and sanitize water fountains daily.
• Dust window ledges weekly; wipe surfaces.
• Washes desks and removes graffiti as needed.
• Spot-clean windows and door glass daily.
• Change light bulbs and clean lens covers.
• Assist with summer cleaning tasks and projects.
• Set up/tear down for events; secure doors/windows.
• Substitute for Lead/Head Custodian if needed.
• Operate grounds equipment (mowers, trimmers).
• Assist Grounds Keeper with fencing or playground tasks.
