Job summary

TalentBurst is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join the onsite lab in Tucker, GA on a 3+ month contract beginning 9/23/2026. This role features a 12:00 AM – 8:30 AM shift and requires accurate, detail-oriented lab work in a regulated setting.

Responsibilities include specimen handling, routine QA/QC, reagent preparation, equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and proper disposal of biohazardous materials. High school diploma is required; medical assistant training is helpful.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; medical assistant training helpful.
• Ability to establish work priorities and handle multiple tasks.
• Strong attention to accuracy and safety in a laboratory environment.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with coworkers respectfully.

Responsibilities

• Sort, receive, and process specimens in the department.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance on select equipment.
• Centrifuge specimens, print labels, record data and manage specimen storage.
• Prepare reagents and media for testing workflows.
• Prepare specimens at workstations and build worklists.
• Execute QA/QC duties and resolve pending lists.
• Identify missing samples and decontaminate work areas.
• Conduct weekly radioactive wipe tests and maintain department records.
• Change gas cylinders and ensure PPE compliance and safety rules.
• Operate laboratory computer systems and lab PCs; dispose of biohazardous waste.
• Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.

JOB SUMMARY:

• Perform the daily activities as described below.
• Basic Purpose: Perform various routine laboratory functions in a precise and accurate fashion to assist the laboratory professional staff and to facilitate production.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Sorting, and receiving specimens in the department.
• Performs routine instrument maintenance on some equipment.
• Performs laboratory tasks of centrifuging specimens, printing extra labels, recording data (temperature charts) specimen storage and retrieval.
• Preparing reagents and or media in the department.
• Preparing specimens at workstations for testing. (Including building worklists, aliquoting specimens into sample cups, checking specimens for clots and fibrin, inoculation, slide preparation)
• Performs QA/QC duties as assigned.
• Resolves pending lists.
• Finds missing samples.
• Decontaminates work areas.
• Performs weekly radioactive wipe tests.
• Maintains files for department records.
• Changes gas cylinders.
• Follows all PPE requirements and all safety regulations.
• Uses the laboratory computer system as well as operates PCs.
• Disposes of biohazardous material.
• Completes training and competency checklists as appropriate.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent. Medical assistant training helpful. Math and science courses preferred.
