CHS Career Site is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our night shift team in Statesboro, GA. You will perform phlebotomy, specimen processing, and data entry while maintaining a clean, compliant lab environment.

Responsibilities include performing finger sticks and venipunctures, operating basic equipment, and ensuring accurate specimen labeling and LIS entries. Strong attention to safety, HIPAA, and regulatory standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of a laboratory assistant training or phlebotomy program requested.
• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years in a laboratory, healthcare, or clinical setting preferred.
• Experience with specimen processing, equipment, and quality control urged.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine tests and follow lab protocols for specimen handling.
• Prepare and process specimens, label, store, and transport per procedures.
• Maintain and troubleshoot basic lab equipment and report malfunctions.
• Perform finger sticks, venipunctures, and heel sticks as trained.
• Ensure safety, infection control, and HIPAA compliance in daily tasks.
• Log procedures and specimen data into LIS/EMR accurately.
• Support QC/QA tasks and documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Stock supplies and manage inventory for smooth daily operations.
• Clean and disinfect surfaces and equipment, uphold safety standards.
• Assist with data collection and process improvement projects.
• Coordinate with healthcare providers and departments for workflow.
• Ensure patient identification using two identifiers at bedside.
• Collect timed specimens as ordered and meet clinical needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned and maintain reliable attendance.
