Job summary

Sonora Quest Laboratories / Laboratory Sciences of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Technical Coordinator I/II to oversee high‑level MLT/MLS duties during night shifts. You will supervise workflow, implement technical initiatives, and ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory standards.

The role emphasizes quality assurance, staff coaching, and active participation in system improvements and cross‑department collaboration.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in medical laboratory technology or MLS with four (4) years of laboratory training or experience, or both in nonwaived testing, in the designated specialty/sub‑specialty area.
• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or biological science (transcripts will be reviewed to determine eligibility) with two (2) years of laboratory training or experience, or both in nonwaived testing, in the designated specialty/sub‑specialty area.
• Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from IERF (International Education Research Foundation) or other nationally recognized credentialing agency for review to determine eligibility.
• For certain specialty disciplines ONLY (Toxicology, HLA, HCTT, etc.) where no certification is available from a certifying agency, a bachelor’s degree with two (2) years of experience in that discipline is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties of MLT/MLS duties as defined by the department, at a high level of competency.
• Responsible for operational leadership and workflow oversight to the section/shift.
• Integrates technical knowledge and clinical relevance into daily activity for the department.
• Under direction of Supervisor/Technical Director, implements system technical initiatives.
• Provides onsite supervision in the absence of section supervisor.
