Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill seeks a Nurse Practitioner to augment the emergency medicine team with psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment within the APP scope of practice under physician supervision. Responsibilities include comprehensive evaluations, documentation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited APRN/PA program.
• Current NC license (APRn/PA) and board certification as required by the department.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Clinical: obtain history, perform physical exams, establish differential diagnoses, and implement treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families; develop teaching materials and provide instruction to staff and students.
• Leadership: provide guidance to physicians, housestaff, nursing and other staff; participate in rounds and meetings.
• Professional: interact with patients and families courteously; coordinate care and documentation in the medical record.
• Quality/Research: engage in daily quality improvement and contribute to protocol development and policy updates.
