Job summary

Summit Logistics Group, LLC in Wilmington, NC is seeking an operations-focused dispatcher to support overnight and weekend dispatch operations in a fast-paced freight brokerage. You will route plan, communicate with drivers, and resolve issues to ensure on-time deliveries.

The role requires strong communication, keen attention to detail, and proficiency with MS Office and transportation management software. On-site work at our Wilmington facility is required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience specifically with domestic freight brokerage preferred.
• Excellent communication with team members and customers.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and transportation management software.

Responsibilities

• Route Planning: Develop and optimize delivery routes to ensure timely and efficient transportation of goods.
• Communication: Maintain constant communication with drivers to provide updates, address issues, and ensure compliance with schedules.
• Problem Resolution: Address delays, detours, or mechanical issues quickly and effectively.
• Documentation: Keep accurate records of shipments, including delivery times, delays, and incidents.
• Collaboration: Work with sales, operations and customer service to streamline operations.
• Provide timely communication to customers and carriers regarding shipment status, delays, and issues.
• Compliance: Ensure transportation activities comply with Local, State, and Federal regulations.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide timely and accurate communication to customers and carriers regarding shipment status, delays, and issues.
• Compliance: Ensure that all transportation activities comply with Local, State, and Federal regulations.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

Requirements:

Work Location Requirements:

• This position requires full-time, on-site presence at our Wilmington, NC (28403) facility.
• This position supports our overnight and weekend dispatch operations and averages approximately 36-40 hours per week.
• We currently have openings for the following:
  • Night Dispatch
  • Weekend Dispatch
• Most shifts range from 08-12 hours, depending on operational needs and coverage requirements.
• While these are our primary openings, we offer flexibility in scheduling and may be able to accommodate alternative evening or overnight shift arrangements for the right candidate.
