Job summary

Newark Board of Education is seeking a Custodian (Night) to support multiple Newark locations. Under supervision, you will clean and maintain school facilities and assist with grounds as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of relevant custodian experience, a valid Black Seal Boiler Operator License, and a NJ driver’s license if vehicle operation is required. Employment is twelve months with Local 68.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or Vocational School or possession of an approved High School Equivalent Certificate.
• Two (2) years of experience in heating, inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of furniture, fixtures, offices, buildings, and grounds.
• Current, valid Black Seal Boiler Operator License (high or low pressure) issued by the NJ Dept. of Labor.
• Driver's license valid in NJ if vehicle operation is necessary to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and plans cleaning work and materials needed.
• Supervises and leads cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
• Oversees cleaning of desks, chairs, floors, fixtures, and surfaces.
• Maintains records of personnel, equipment, materials, time spent, and work completed.
• Reports repairs to authorities and learns to use agency information systems.
