Job summary

Louisiana State University is seeking a night-shift custodian to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions across UREC facilities. The role runs from 10:00 pm to 6:30 am, focusing on cleaning restrooms, offices, classrooms, and common areas, with routine waste handling and equipment operation.

Candidates should have at least six months of custodial or related experience and be capable of walking the large facility, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 40 pounds as needed.

Qualifications

• Six months of custodial/housekeeping/groundskeeping/food service experience required.

Responsibilities

• Cleans restrooms, offices, classrooms, stairwells, elevators, hallways and other areas; performs sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting and polishing; prepares cleaning solutions per manufacturer directions.
• Empties and transports trash/recycling; cleans and deodorizes containers; handles waste per guidelines.
• Operates cleaning equipment (vacuum, carpet cleaners, bathroom machines, floor machines) per manufacturer instructions.
• Shares information with teammates, maintains safety, supports department culture and reports safety concerns to supervisor.
• Unlocks/locks areas as needed; manages keys per department process; handles costs if keys are lost.
