Job summary

Flowing Wells Unified School District is seeking a dedicated Night Custodian to maintain clean school facilities. Responsibilities include floor care, cleaning of chalkboards, waste disposal, and basic maintenance to ensure a safe, hygienic learning environment.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, at least 1 year custodial experience, and a valid Arizona driver’s license. Substitute night custodian experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year custodial experience.

• Flowing Wells Substitute Night Custodian experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, dust, and mop floors; vacuum carpets; dust windows and furniture.
• Wipe chalkboards and rails.
• Remove graffiti, gum, etc. from walls and under desks.
• Empty wastebaskets and other trash containers.
• Clean window interiors/exteriors and sanitize bathrooms.
• Perform minor maintenance repairs.
• Replace lamps and bulbs as necessary.
• Procure, store, distribute and manage custodial supplies and equipment.
• Lock and secure all areas of campus.
• Comply with Safety Manual Rules and OSHA requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Salary:

$16.35 per hour - commensurate with experience

Terms/Benefits:

2026-2027 School Year

12 month position -8.0 hours per day

General Information:

Maintains the school buildings in a neat and clean condition to provide a clean environment conducive to learning.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in custodial or related field.
• Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
• Flowing Wells Substitute Night Custodian experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally.
• Skills in methods, use of supplies and tools, and operation of equipment used in custodial work.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
• Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members.
• Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.
• Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response.
• Skills in time management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
