Job summary

Johnson Brothers in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a Custodian to perform cleaning, maintenance, and related duties to keep facilities healthy, safe, and sanitary. Schedule: Mon-Thu 4pm-12am and Fri 3pm-11:30pm; pay range $18.00–$19.00/hour.

Responsibilities include restroom sanitation, floor care, waste removal, equipment operation, and basic maintenance; safety meetings and training are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills with strong memory, attention to detail, and the ability to follow directions.
• Attend safety meetings and other related meetings.
• Take classes in cleaning methods and First Aid.
• Handle recycling materials.
• Assist with inventory control and security.
• Safely operate all job related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms using established practices and refill dispensers.
• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture, walls, ceilings and woodwork; sweep, mop or vacuum floors.
• Empty trash and recycling; transport waste to disposal area.
• Vacuum meeting rooms and run dirty glassware through the dishwasher.
• Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and finish on hard floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
• Replace light bulbs and maintain power equipment and tools.
• Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required.
• Lock and unlock buildings and secure premises when unused; report any security concerns.
• Move furniture, equipment, supplies as needed.
• Wash interior and exterior windows; dust blinds.
• Read and comprehend chemical labels; follow directions for use.

The Custodian is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties to ensure that property buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner.

Schedule: Monday-Thursday: 4pm-12am and Friday: 3pm-11:30pm

Job Description

• Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures; refill restroom dispensers
• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture, walls, ceilings, and woodwork; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors
• Empty/clean wastebaskets and recycle bins; transports trash and waste to disposal area and trash containers
• Vacuum meeting rooms and run all dirty glassware through the dishwasher
• Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets
• Replace light bulbs
• Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets and furniture
• Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments
• Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights
• Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis
• Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Dust blinds.
• Read and comprehend chemical and supply labels; follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies and use as directed

The expected pay range for this role is $18.00 - $19.00. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity, union status (where applicable) and alignment with market data.
