Job Responsibilities
- Perform routine and project cleaning of assigned classrooms, offices, and corridors. Duties include waste removal, vacuuming, sweeping, disinfecting sinks and fountains, cleaning furniture, refinishing floors, carpet extraction, and cleaning chalkboards.
- Coordinate, schedule, and supervise custodial staff under the Facilities Manager's guidance for project completion and building use. Interact with building occupants to meet their needs.
- Clean and disinfect lavatories and locker rooms, including fixtures, sinks, walls, floors, and mirrors. Maintain dispensers and odor control.
- Perform minor maintenance such as lubricating univents, changing filters, light bulbs, and performing small repairs or painting.
- Secure the facility by locking windows and doors, ensuring security lights operate, and activating alarms.
- Maintain exterior areas including mowing, trimming, cleaning windows and walls, and snow and ice removal from sidewalks and stairs.
- Operate equipment like vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, pressure washers, snow blowers, lawn mowers, and power brooms.
- Report repairs to the head custodian.
- Supervise second-shift custodial staff, inspect work, train new employees, and assist with performance evaluations.
- Attend district-provided leadership training.
- Communicate regularly with the head custodian.
- Carry the building's cell phone and ensure building security at night.
- Check and report on heating, cooling, ventilation, and life safety systems during evening shifts.
- Possess or obtain a special engineer/boiler operator's license within specified timeframes.
- Demonstrate leadership, interpersonal skills, and organizational abilities.
- Meet physical requirements through pre-placement examination.
Assignment & Compensation
8 hours/day, 12 months/year; 2:30-11:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Minimum pay: $24.34/hour (Class I, Step I + $3.00/hour differential). Shift differential: $0.45/hour.

Qualifications
- Possession or ability to obtain a special engineer/boiler operator's license within 6 months.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Accurate mathematical skills.
- Customer service orientation and positive interpersonal skills.
- Ability to pass a physical capabilities examination at district expense.
