Job summary

The Oaks Academy in Brownwood, Texas, operated by Rite of Passage, is hiring a Youth Care Worker for a new all-girls program. The role involves safe, 24/7 supervision and mentorship for youth aged 13-17 in a trauma-informed setting.

Pay starts at $17/hour with eligibility for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance within 90 days, plus a 401(k) match after 1 year. A $1,000 bonus is offered after completing Essential Skills Training within 90 days. Rotating 12-hour shifts are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Able to pass criminal background check, drug test, and TB test.
• Able to pass a search of the child abuse central registry.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and around-the-clock in-person supervision of youth at a secure residential facility.
• Address physical, personal and health needs through individual counseling and skill development.
• Create an atmosphere supportive of the youth's needs; monitor and document behaviors and activities.
• Collaborate with other professional staff to meet the goals of each youth's treatment plan.

Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of youth! The Rite of Passage Team is hiring a Youth Care Worker at The Oaks Academy in Brownwood, Texas. Join us as we celebrate the opening of our new, all girls program. As we welcome our female youth population, we are looking for strong role models to provide services and mentorship.

The Oaks is a secure post-adjudication facility located in Brownwood, Texas that provides comprehensive services to young men & women (13-17), using a trauma‑informed, strength‑based, gender‑responsive model. Through rigorous education, positive skill development, and individualized therapeutic interventions and treatment, we empower youth to reach their full potential. The facility features group, individual, and family therapy, on‑site schooling, individual dorm rooms, and extracurricular opportunities for the young men.

Pay and Benefits

• Pay: starting at $17/hour+ depending on relevant education and experience

What you will do

Provide safety and around‑the‑clock in‑person supervision of youth at a secure residential facility. Provide for the physical, personal and health needs of each youth through individual counseling and skill development. Create an atmosphere supportive of the youth’s needs; monitor and document behaviors and activities; and participate and assist with educational, social, athletic and recreational activities. Collaborate with other professional staff to establish and meet the goals of each youth's treatment plan.

Schedule

Rotating schedule – one long week: Monday, Tuesday, Half of Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday; one short week: Half of Wednesday and Thursday. Shifts: 12 hrs – 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
