Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
• Education evaluated by a credentialing agency and deemed equivalent to a US Bachelor's degree is acceptable.
• Louisiana state licensure required.
• Must possess MT/MLS/CLS/MLT certification from ASCP/AMT/AAB/HEW/HHS.
• New graduates who are board certified or eligible must complete board certification within 1 year of hire (Louisiana excluded).

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Performs routine and complicated laboratory procedures in the primary section to which assigned.
• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation and equipment; reports issues as needed.
• Cross-trains to other laboratory sections as needed.
• Ensures the laboratory quality control program is properly followed.
• Calculates and verifies results; utilizes the Laboratory Information System.
• Notifies and documents critical laboratory values.
• Processes patient specimens with appropriate handling and pediatric consideration.
• Contributes to evaluation and implementation of new testing procedures.
• Demonstrates competence in patient care responsibilities per population needs.
• Adheres to CHRISTUS Health CORE values and applicable policies.
