Job description

Night Auditor (Part-Time) - The Blackstone Hotel, Chicago, Illinois

Ensure accurate financial reporting and smooth hotel operations by auditing, balancing, and reporting on various hotel departments, including food and beverage outlets, front desk, gift shop, and more. Provide professional and courteous service to guests, responding promptly to inquiries and guest concerns both in person and via telephone.

Responsibilities

  1. Audit, balance, and report on all food and beverage cash and credit operations, including checks, deposits, house charges, and promotional materials, ensuring accuracy and adherence to policies.
  2. Audit, balance, post, and report on front desk transactions such as room charges, phone calls, adjustments, taxes, and deposits, verifying proper cash handling.
  3. Prepare, verify, and report on room statistics and income, assisting management with performance insights and daily reporting.
  4. Balance and close bank ticket codes daily.
  5. Run the night audit final, ensuring all revenues are balanced.
  6. Greet arriving guests, complete check-in procedures, and ensure guest satisfaction using manual and computerized methods.
  7. Facilitate guest check-out, closing guest accounts and preparing rooms for the next guests.
  8. Maintain good customer relations by staying informed about hotel and area events to answer questions promptly and accurately.
  9. Operate PBX equipment for incoming and outgoing calls, wake-up calls, and guest paging.
  10. Perform front desk duties, including express checkouts.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Accounting experience preferred but not required.

Knowledge/Skills: Proficiency with computers, cash registers, calculators; strong numerical and reporting skills; excellent guest communication and telephone etiquette; good hearing, vision, and literacy skills.

Physical Demands

Majority of shift involves standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching to assist guests and perform job duties. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and work in a climate-controlled environment is required.
