The Night Auditor is responsible for reconciling all hotel cashier transactions, reviewing, organizing, and compiling management reports in a timely manner, and ensuring the accuracy of guest billings and city ledger transactions. He/she also communicates concerns and issues to management and performs guest service agent duties as needed, including check-in, check-out, switchboard operation, and reservations.
Responsibilities
- Work with and understand financial information and data, including basic arithmetic functions.
- Cross-train in other accounting or hotel-related areas.
- Prioritize job functions to meet deadlines.
- Perform guest services such as check-in/out, reservations, and call handling.
- Audit and reconcile financial and statistical reports.
- Prepare and distribute daily reports (e.g., Daily Operating Report, Tax Reports) according to hotel standards.
- Prepare and distribute month-end reports.
- Audit and reconcile Front Desk and Food & Beverage cashier work.
- Audit, reconcile, and transmit credit card transactions timely.
- Ensure accuracy of reported numbers and statistics.
- Update financial information in the corporate communications network.
- Perform required data processing system functions daily, weekly, monthly, and annually.
- Inform management of any unusual operational or financial events or deviations.
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
- Respond to governmental inquiries as received.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; one year of experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Guest Service experience is preferred.
- Willingness to work late/overnight shifts and sometimes long hours.
- Sedentary work involving lifting up to 10 pounds.
- Maintain a warm, friendly demeanor at all times.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests.
- Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns.
- Multitasking and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
- Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
- Comply with hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
