Job description

The Night Auditor is responsible for reconciling all hotel cashier transactions, reviewing, organizing, and compiling management reports in a timely manner, and ensuring the accuracy of guest billings and city ledger transactions. He/she also communicates concerns and issues to management and performs guest service agent duties as needed, including check-in, check-out, switchboard operation, and reservations.

Responsibilities

  1. Work with and understand financial information and data, including basic arithmetic functions.
  2. Cross-train in other accounting or hotel-related areas.
  3. Prioritize job functions to meet deadlines.
  4. Perform guest services such as check-in/out, reservations, and call handling.
  5. Audit and reconcile financial and statistical reports.
  6. Prepare and distribute daily reports (e.g., Daily Operating Report, Tax Reports) according to hotel standards.
  7. Prepare and distribute month-end reports.
  8. Audit and reconcile Front Desk and Food & Beverage cashier work.
  9. Audit, reconcile, and transmit credit card transactions timely.
  10. Ensure accuracy of reported numbers and statistics.
  11. Update financial information in the corporate communications network.
  12. Perform required data processing system functions daily, weekly, monthly, and annually.
  13. Inform management of any unusual operational or financial events or deviations.
  14. Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  15. Respond to governmental inquiries as received.

Qualifications

  1. High School diploma or equivalent; one year of experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  2. Guest Service experience is preferred.
  3. Willingness to work late/overnight shifts and sometimes long hours.
  4. Sedentary work involving lifting up to 10 pounds.
  5. Maintain a warm, friendly demeanor at all times.
  6. Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests.
  7. Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns.
  8. Multitasking and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
  9. Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings.
  10. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
  11. Comply with hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
  12. Identify and help implement productivity improvements.
  13. Handle problems proactively, anticipating and solving issues as needed.
  14. Understand and apply complex information from various sources.
  15. Cross-train in other hotel-related areas.
  16. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  17. Show initiative by anticipating guest and operational needs.
  18. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
