Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a Night Auditor responsible for preparing a summary of cash, check, and credit card activities reflecting the hotel’s daily financial totals. This role involves posting room charges and taxes to guest accounts, including additional guest transactions. The Night Auditor will also ensure files are maintained, systems are reset for the next day, and all financial activities are accurately recorded.

Responsibilities
  • Greet, assist, and register guests upon arrival, verifying reservation details
  • Respond to guest needs, special requests, and complaints; communicate these to the next shift
  • Verify that all charges are correctly assigned to the appropriate departments and guest accounts
  • Print and file reservations for the next business day
  • Prepare daily reports as required by management
  • Check figures, postings, and documents for accuracy
  • Perform End of Day procedures
  • Balance the day’s charges and make necessary corrections
  • Input revenue, expenses, and allowances into the PC to generate daily reports
  • Balance all revenue and settlement accounts nightly, maintain files, and reset systems for the next day
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager and Assistant General Manager based on hotel needs

Regular attendance is essential. Employees with irregular attendance may face disciplinary action, including termination. Due to the hospitality industry’s nature, varying schedules and holiday work may be required. All employees must comply with hotel rules and regulations; violations may lead to disciplinary action or termination.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education, training, and experience providing the necessary skills and knowledge.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

Work is indoors with protection from weather; physical activities include standing for long periods, walking, talking, seeing, hearing, reaching, bending, grasping, and repetitive motions involving a computer keyboard. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and work overnight hours.

Grooming

Maintain cleanliness and personal hygiene. Dress in a neat, businesslike manner at all times to project the hotel’s professional image.
