Job summary

The St. Joe Company is seeking a Night Audit at our Panama City, Florida hotel to verify front office accounting records, summarize daily financial activity, and post room charges and taxes to guest accounts.

This role requires attention to detail and the ability to communicate in English in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include balancing charges, running end-of-day processes in the PMS, and supporting guest needs during check-in and check-out, including overnight shifts, weekends

Qualifications

• Sufficient education and literacy to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests.
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in basic English.
• Previously hospitality experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Posts room charges and taxes to guests accounts.
• Processes guest charges vouchers and credit card vouchers.
• Post charges to guest accounts not posted during the night audit shift.
• Verify all postings and balances.
• Verify room rates are correct and post rates to guest accounts.
• Understand auditing, balancing, and reconciling accounts.
• Balance daily charges and make corrections as needed.
• Run end-of-day process in the PMS.
• Prepare a summary of cash, checks, and credit card activities.

Job description

Job Summary

The Night Audit position checks the front office accounting records for accuracy and, daily, summarizes and complies information for the hotels financial records. This position is also responsible for tracking room revenue, occupancy percentages and other front office operating statistics. Additionally, the Night Audit is expected to prepare a summary of cash, check, and credit card activities, reflecting the hotels financial performance for the day. This position is also responsible for posting room charges and room taxes to guests accounts including guest transactions not posted during the day by the front office cashier.

Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions

• Posts room charges and taxes to guests accounts
• Processes guest charges voucher and credit card vouchers
• Post charges to the guest accounts that have not been posted or were incurred on the night audit shift
• Verify all account postings and balances
• Verify that room rates are correct and posts those rates to guest accounts
• Understand principles of auditing, balancing, and losing out accounts
• Balance the days charges, making corrections as necessary
• Run end of day process in property management software (PMS)
• Prepares a summary of cash, check, and credit card activities
• Summarizes results of operations for management
• Check figures, postings, and documents for accuracy, and record, store, access, and/or analyze computerized financial information
• Serve as a front desk agent especially in terms of check-in and check-out procedures
• Respond to guest needs, special requests and complaints and alert the appropriate manager as needed
• Maintain complete knowledge of emergency procedures
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in basic English
• Previously hospitality experience preferred

Physical Demands

Working Conditions

• Primarily located indoors but can be exposed to outside weather conditions
• Occasionally exposed to high volume places
• Minimal to moderate noise levers consistent with hotel environment
• May be exposed to cleaning chemicals (proper PPE provided)
• Shift work is required, including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays
