Job summary

The Olympia Companies’ Olympia Hospitality and Glass Light Hotel & Gallery in Norfolk seeks a Night Attendant to monitor security, assist guests, and guide them through the property.

You’ll attend to safety protocols, know building layouts, and coordinate with Front Desk while delivering friendly, responsive service.

This role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a community-minded approach, with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; CPR and First Aid are helpful.
• Experience in public safety/security is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Walk the property frequently, observe and appropriately handle safety/security matters; complete Incident Report with details.
• Know hotel layout, including fire exits and storage areas.
• Conduct rounds; check windows and doors; monitor for unauthorized individuals.
• Contact Police/Fire Department when appropriate.
• Check parking lot for unauthorized vehicles and request towing when necessary.
• Answer calls and assist guests; maintain professional radio communication with Front Desk.

The Night Attendant monitors the property to ensure activities at the hotel comply with Olympia’s safety policies and procedures. They assist guests by sharing knowledge of the various departments, buildings, and access routes on and off property.

Rate of Pay: $16.00-$17.00/hour

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Walk the property frequently, observe and appropriately handle all safety/security related matters for the property; complete Incident Report noting specific details, witnesses – names/phone numbers, etc.
• Know hotel layout, i.e. fire exits, storage, electrical room, etc.
• Make rounds – check windows, doors, and be aware of unauthorized individuals in the area
• Contact Police / Fire Department when appropriate
• Check parking lot for unauthorized vehicles and request towing when necessary
• Answer telephone calls, demonstrating excellent customer service and phone etiquette, take messages, answer questions, and assist in guest requests during busy periods or when Night Auditor is away from desk
• Maintain radio contact with Front Desk (professional language and tone)

Skills Required

Provide high level customer service, communicate effectively with guests and team members, follow instructions, ability to learn quickly, pay attention to detail, and maintain composure when working under pressure

Experience / Education

Experience in public safety/security preferred. CPR, First Aid helpful. High school diploma and/or equivalent work experience
