Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a NICU RN for a Level II Special Care Nursery role in New Jersey. The position requires NJ or Compact RN licensure and NRP certification, with direct work in a Level II nursery caring for stable premature infants.

Applicants should have 1 year of NICU experience and be fully vaccinated, including a COVID booster. Night shifts are 3x12 hours with 1:1 to 1:3 patient ratios and no on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration.
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required.
• Experience assisting with high-risk deliveries alongside neonatologists.
• Clinical skills in phototherapy, bubble CPAP, UV lines, and chest tubes.
• Experience performing newborn assessments during labor support.
• Must be fully vaccinated including COVID booster.

Responsibilities

• Level II Special Care Nursery setting for stable premature infants typically born at 30+ weeks.
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30).
• Every other weekend required.
• No on-call requirements.
• Uses Epic for charting.
• Floating required within skillset, with ratios varying based on census and acuity.
• Hospital-provided scrubs.
• Provide specialized care for stable premature infants requiring respiratory support, phototherapy, thermoregulation, and developmental care in a family-centered environment.
• Work within a community teaching hospital setting as part of a larger integrated healthcare system.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
