Job summary

Backus Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Connecticut. The role emphasizes using the nursing process and building a synergistic nurse–patient relationship while assessing patient needs, planning, implementing, and evaluating care.

Requirements include RN licensure in CT, BLS on hire, and NRP eligibility within 60 days. BSN/MSN preferred, with 1 year RN experience and 2+ years in NICU preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing; BSN or MSN preferred.
• 1 year RN experience and/or completion of Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
• Two or more years experience in NICU preferred.
• Current unrestricted License to practice as RN in CT; BLS on hire; ability to obtain NRP within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates clinical competence through nursing process and nurse–patient relationship.
• Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs; establishes a care plan; implements and evaluates care.
• Provides NICU nursing care and collaborates with the health-care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
