Job summary

University of California - San Diego Medical Centers seeks a Neonatal Respiratory Therapist to support high-risk deliveries and NICU care in La Jolla, with occasional transport to Hillcrest. You will provide humidification, aerosol therapy, lung inflation, secretion clearance, monitor ventilated infants, and assist in resuscitation and transports.

The role requires NICU experience, RCP/RRT, NRP certification, and ability to work varied shifts with on-call as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CoARC-accredited respiratory therapy program.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) certified.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certified.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• BLS/CPR or BART certification at hire; commitment to obtain BART within six months.
• Experience in a large, complex healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide neonatal respiratory therapy including humidity and aerosol therapy, lung inflation maneuvers, and pulmonary secretion clearance methods.
• Monitor infants on continuous ventilator support and perform CPR in NICU.
• Adjust oxygen therapy by selecting appropriate devices per respiratory care protocols.
• Assemble, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain NICU respiratory equipment; perform blood gas analysis.
• Assist in intubation and neonatal resuscitation; participate in transports and special procedures.
