The Nutrition Support Dietitian is responsible for the nutritional management of critical care patients in the NICU, providing nutritional services according to established standards and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify care accordingly, considering age, culture, language, and impairments. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Obtain and interpret nutritional information based on patient needs, growth, development, and treatment requirements across all ages from neonates to geriatrics.
  • Instruct patients and significant others on TPN, PNN, external feedings, and therapeutic diets as prescribed, providing follow-up as needed.
  • Document nutritional information in medical charts.
  • Write orders for TPN and additives.
  • Train physicians and patient care staff.
  • Assist with diet office management and coordinate with relevant personnel.
  • Follow safety protocols to minimize exposure to infectious materials and hazardous substances.
  • Adhere to organizational standards and competencies.
Qualifications
  • BSc in nutrition or dietetics from an accredited institution meeting the didactic requirements of the AND.
  • Minimum of 3 years of acute care clinical experience.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification with the AND.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Windows, CBORD, and IDX Lastword.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Dietitian License.
  • National Board of Nutrition Support Certification (CNSC, CMN) within one year of hire.
