Nickelodeon Universe Ropes Course Operator - Part Time

PURPOSE: To provide a safe and enjoyable experience for guests at Dutchman’s Deck, the ropes course, zip line, and slides within Nickelodeon Universe .

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide excellent guest service including explaining how the flow of the attraction works, wait times, and rules.
  • Enforce safety of all guests and team members at Dutchman’s Deck including height and weight restrictions, physical condition, and shoe and clothing requirements.
  • Properly harness and secure guests prior to them entering the attractions.
  • Ensure loose articles are properly stored and assist guests with storing items in provided locker.
  • Monitor slides and other restricted areas and keep clear for guest safety.
  • Accurately assess each guest’s harness size and properly secure the harness.
  • Give clear hand signals, verbal signals, and radio communication to ensure smooth and safe operation.
  • Able to receive guests during zipline operation (up to 300lb).
  • Perform course and equipment inspections for safety when opening the course and prior to each use.
  • Remain calm and give clear instructions during emergency situations.
  • Ring and count out funds accurately and timely following established cash handling procedures.
  • Reassure nervous guests and help them feel comfortable on the course.
  • Handle guest concerns calmly and efficiently.
  • Understand and participate in emergency procedures including but not limited to take down procedures, rescues on the zip line, emergency weather, and lockdown procedures.
  • Monitor guests throughout their experience to ensure all safety guidelines are followed.
  • Handle both cash and screening of guests at the register position.
  • Walk and climb (ropes, ladders, stairs) at heights of five stories.
  • Tie specific knots, belay, move safely from element to element on course as trained.
  • Cross train with other MOA departments, and regularly be assigned to assist as needed.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and high-volume days.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be at least 17 years of age.
  • Strong attention to safety and detail.
  • Must be able to stay within ropes course weight restrictions (under 300lb).
  • Able to project voice to be heard in a loud environment.
  • Able to confidently navigate the entire ropes course.
  • Comfortable with heights.
  • Able to reach hands to heights up to 7’2”.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member will frequently be required to speak and listen to guests in order to understand their needs and communicate a solution. Team member must also possess a level of hearing that will continuously allow them to be aware of their surroundings and recognize when a guest needs their attention. Specific vision abilities required by this job include frequent close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, ability to see in low lighting and ability to adjust focus. Team members are required to be able to tolerate multiple sensory stimuli at once while performing their duties. These stimuli may include: loud auditory/noise, smells/olfactory, bright lights, colors, motion, and other visual stimuli. Ropes course team members must be able to tolerate wearing a harness for the duration of their shift.
