Qualifications

  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is needed.
  • ACLS certification needed within a year if not already held.

Pay Range: $33.58- $50.36/hour

Sign-on bonus: Up to $20,000

Additional components of compensation may include:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist with the performance of a variety of invasive cardiac/peripheral vascular procedures, including operating and monitoring hemodynamic equipment. Record and analyze stenotic lesions and be able to provide correct measurements to physician. Provide assistance to the physician while scrubbed in for procedures, utilizing sterile technique. Able to run imaging equipment to acquire diagnostic images during procedures. Performs daily QA and QC checks. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.

AGE SPECIFIC CARE:

Provides age and culturally appropriate assessment, interpretation of clinical and laboratory data and develops and implements age appropriate interventions and plans of care including education within the parameters of his/her position responsibilities and licensure.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Graduate of a two year technical degree program in Radiology Technology. Previous experience in special procedures/cath lab preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Current license from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency of Nuclear Safety and current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Bi-annual CPR/ACLS certification required, if does not have ACLS it will be required on year from the hire date.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Excellent oral and written communication skills and critical decision making abilities required. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians and all levels of staff under varied conditions. Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill validation tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Utilizing knowledge of radiology technology performs invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures. Assist the MD during the procedures while maintaining sterile technique.
  1. Collects, utilizes and files all imaging information during procedures, recognizes abnormalities patterns and alerts physicians and appropriate staff as needed.
  1. Clearly and accurately records patient information into appropriate records, maintaining confidentiality at all times. Utilizes computer to retrieve patient testing and other appropriate data information.
  1. Performs patient transport to and from lab as needed. Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes patient and environmental safety and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and compliance efforts.
  1. Performs quality control checks and maintains equipment and supplies in good working order notifying appropriate resource of necessary repairs.
  1. Performs basic life support in the event of a cardiopulmonary arrest.
  1. Educates or precepts new employees, students, and other professionals as needed in accordance with department guidelines. Maintains a work environment that promotes positive change and individual growth.
  1. Recognizes abnormal EKG patterns and alert physicians and the appropriate staff as needed.
