Job summary

Uncommon Schools seeks a Middle School Science teacher to deliver NGSS-aligned instruction in a high-needs urban setting. You will foster inquiry, data analysis, and science discourse while collaborating with a grade-level team to set academic goals.

Responsibilities include weekly data reviews with leadership, differentiating instruction, and building strong relationships with students and families, supported by ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to student social-emotional and academic development.
• Enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners in students' best interests.
• Self-directed learner who seeks and uses feedback to improve outcomes.
• Experience in urban K-12 education (1–2 years preferred).
• Academic expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.
• Bachelor's degree with GPA 2.5+; MA MTEL SEI endorsement within first year.

Responsibilities

• Teach an interdisciplinary NGSS-aligned science curriculum, covering climate, ecosystems, energy, electricity, and more.
• Develop student practices: questioning, modeling, data analysis, argumentation, lab work.
• Foster student engagement and confidence in science.
• Collaborate with grade teams to align goals and instructional strategies.
• Meet weekly with principal/coach to review student work trends and differentiate instruction.
• Build strong, supportive relationships with students and families.
