Job summary

Amentum invites an experienced Platform Integration Engineer to join the NGE program supporting the IRES contract. You will drive cross-domain integration, coordinate MBSE baselines, and align hybrid cloud, container platforms, and data-layer technologies at scale.

You will interface with Government leadership, chair cross-functional syncs, and lead TEMs, ensuring secure, resilient platform delivery across DoD environments and cloud services.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of general full-time work experience.
• 5+ years in a senior systems engineering or technical integration role.
• 1+ years in management or leadership.
• 3+ years interfacing with senior Government/DoW leadership and TEMs.
• Proven experience integrating hybrid cloud, virtualization, container platforms, and data layer technologies.
• Experience with Hybrid platforms: VMware VCF, Linux (RHEL 9), and container environments (OpenShift, Kubernetes, RKE2).
• Experience with REST APIs, enterprise databases (Cassandra, SQL Server, Oracle), and publish/subscribe messaging (RabbitMQ).
• Experience with MBSE: Cameo, SysML, or IBM DOORS/DOORS Next Gen.
• DoW 8140/8570 IAT II certification.
• Active DoW Secret security clearance with eligibility for TS.

Description of Duties:

As the Platform Integration Engineer for the Next Generation Environment (NGE) supporting the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract, you will serve as a technical authority responsible for driving the cross-domain integration, cohesion, and delivery of the digital platform ecosystem for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

Operating at the program level, you will serve as the primary technical interface between Government NGE Leadership and the multi-contractor engineering consortium. You will bridge the gaps between systems engineering/MBSE, hybrid multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure GovCloud/IL5/IL6, VMware VCF), container orchestration platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes, RKE2), enterprise data integration (APIs, pub/sub messaging, distributed data stores), and DevSecOps pipelines. In this role, you ensure that disparate infrastructure, middleware, and application components function as a unified, secure, and resilient digital enterprise.

Customer & Stakeholder Advisory (Customer-Facing):

• Serve as a technical advisor to the Government NGE Technical Director and Government Chief Engineers; translate high-level mission capabilities and architectural roadmaps into concrete platform integration requirements, technical trade studies, and executive briefings.
• Interact directly with senior DoD civilian and military leadership to present platform capabilities, integration risks, and baseline delivery strategies.

Consortium & Program Integration:

• Act as a platform integrator across teammate companies, external performer teams, and engineering disciplines; chair cross-functional integration syncs, resolve technical dependencies, and harmonize platform interfaces across work packages.
• Lead engineering alignment workshops, facilitate technical exchange meetings (TEMs), and drive peer-to-peer technical coordination across the contracting consortium.

Digital Engineering & MBSE Traceability:

• Align platform architecture with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) baselines; trace operational and technical requirements using tools such as Cameo, SysML, and IBM DOORS / DOORS Next Generation to maintain authoritative sources of truth.
• Ensure infrastructure engineering designs are fully synchronized with physical and logical data models within the digital engineering lifecycle.

Hybrid Cloud & Platform Orchestration:

• Ensure the technical integration of hybrid compute and container runtime environments across VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes (RKE2), and native AWS / Azure IL5/IL6 cloud services.
• Oversee host operating system integrations (RHEL/Windows Server) within virtualized, bare-metal, and cloud-hosted architectures.

DevSecOps & Automation Alignment:

• Partner with DevSecOps and automation teams to establish continuous delivery baselines; ensure automated provisioning (Terraform, Ansible), configuration drift remediation, and CI/CD pipelines align with platform integration standards.
• Champion the adoption of automated infrastructure-as-code (IaC) configuration and validation patterns across all engineering performers.

Zero Trust & Security Compliance:

• Ensure all platform integration patterns strictly align with the DoW Zero Trust Reference Architecture, NIST SP 800-53, and DISA STIGs; coordinate with cybersecurity teams to streamline system hardening and continuous ATO (cATO) data artifact generation.
• Incorporate identity-centric boundaries, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and Certificate Authority/PKI configurations into the design of integrated platforms.

Basic Requirements:

• Must have 10, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
  • May be reduced with completion of advanced education
• Must have 5, or more, years in a senior systems engineering, solution architecture, or technical integration role.
• Must have 1, or more, years of experience working in a management or leadership role
• Must have 3, or more, years of experience interfacing directly with senior Government/DoW leadership, facilitating technical exchange meetings (TEMs), and orchestrating multi-stakeholder planning events.
• Proven experience integrating multi-tier enterprise systems spanning hybrid cloud, virtualization, container platforms, and data layer technologies.
• Must have demonstrated experience with Hybrid platforms: VMware VCF, Linux (RHEL 9), and container environments (OpenShift, Kubernetes, RKE2).
• Must have demonstrated experience with Data/Application integration: REST APIs, enterprise database platforms (Cassandra, SQL Server, Oracle), and publish/subscribe messaging systems (RabbitMQ).
• Must have demonstrated experience with Systems Engineering/MBSE: Cameo, SysML, or IBM DOORS/DOORS Next Generation.
• Must hold a current DoW 8140/8570 IAT Level II or higher certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, CASP+ CE, CISSP).
• Must have an active DoW Secret security clearance with verified eligibility to obtain a Top Secret clearance (or active Top Secret).

Desired Requirements:

• Have an active DoW Top Secret clearance.
• Have Direct experience supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), the IRES contract, or joint multi-performer defense programs.
• Have experience applying SAFe / Agile methodologies within large-scale defense acquisition environments (PI Planning, Epic/Story refinement, dependency management).
• Have 1, or more, Professional certifications such as:
  • CISSP
  • ITIL Foundation
  • AWS/Azure Solutions Architect
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist / OpenShift
  • INCOSE (ASEP/CSEP)

Compensation Details:

$160,000 – $200,000
