Compensation for this freelance role is based on revenue share. Writers are paid on a sliding scale per 1,000 page views (e.g., 1 million page views = $5,000). Athlon Sports averaged 94 million pageviews per month in Q4 2024, indicating significant earning potential — the more you write, the more you earn.

We're seeking hungry, talented writers with a proven ability to drive traffic and craft stories that resonate with fans.

What You’ll Do:

• Pitch and write multiple stories daily with accurate, engaging headlines that attract fans.
• Build articles in the CMS following best SEO practices to ensure quality and visibility.

What You’ll Bring:

• 1-2 years of journalism experience, preferably in sports or culture.
• Knowledge of and experience with AP Style.
• Strong news judgment, headline writing skills, and attention to clarity and accuracy.
• Proven ability to produce high-quality, authoritative content that provides value to readers.
• Ability to work independently, write quickly, and maintain brand integrity.
