Job summary

Hereford Insurance Company seeks a detail-oriented professional to manage a litigation inventory and assess claim defensibility in litigation, applying Regulation 68 and relevant case law. You will coordinate with counsel and business partners to shape strategy and pursue timely settlements when appropriate.

You will perform upfront reviews, refer to counsel, and maintain inventory controls with active diaries, ensuring documentation and reporting to managers as required.

• Review and understand judicial determinations and arbitration decisions.

Responsibilities

• Upfront review of claims in litigation.
• Refer to counsel for defense.
• Co-manage strategic defense with counsel.
• Maintain communications with business partners including SIU, Subro, WC, Underwriting, Bodily Injury Liability and other related units.
• Timely follow up and documentation.
• Maintain inventory controls and active diaries on claim inventory.
• Read and apply existing case law in the strategic handling of claims in litigation.

Salary Range: $55,000.00 To $65,000.00 Annually

Timely manage a litigation inventory in accordance with departmental protocols, determining the defensibility of claims in litigation with knowledge of applicable regulations and existing case law and to co-manage the defense with counsel through strategic decision making and where appropriate effectuating timely settlement and or resolution of claims in litigation. Effective and timely up front review of claims in litigation. Appropriate referrals to counsel for defense. Direction to counsel and co-management in the strategic defense of claims in litigation. Make appropriate referrals and maintaining communications to and with business partners including SIU, Subro, WC, Underwriting, Bodily Injury Liability, up front NF claims, Mail and Office Services, staff counsel. Timely and appropriate follow up and documentation. Maintaining inventory controls including proper and timely closures of files and active diaries on claim inventory. Documentation of files in accordance with departmental protocols and provide reports as requested by managers. Reading, understanding and applying existing case law in the strategic handling of claims in litigation.
