Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a sensor and signal processing engineer to help develop algorithms and assess RF sensor systems for land, air, and sea-launched interceptors. You'll influence the development of powerful sensor algorithms and work with dedicated teams to tackle missile defense challenges.

PhD in electrical engineering, applied math, physics or computer science is required.

Qualifications

  • PhD in electrical engineering, applied math, physics, computer science, or related field.
  • Research experience in simulating or analyzing RF signals, environments, or sensors.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, C++, or Python.
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Derive requirements, perform trade studies, and analyze performance of advanced sensor systems.
  • Develop, implement, test and verify high-fidelity physics-based simulations of sensors and environments.
  • Represent APL with sponsors and contractors and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on air and missile defense problems.
