TEGNA's WHAS11 in Louisville is seeking an Assistant News Director to lead day-to-day newsroom operations, coach journalists and oversee multi-platform storytelling. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field.
• 3-5 years of content experience.
• Solid journalistic and content judgment with community engagement.
• Excellent people management skills.
• Strong communication and conflict management skills.
• Strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with producers, reporters, anchors, and photographers on compelling storytelling and daily coverage.
• Oversee production of newscasts and special programming.
• Make split-second decisions to lead the news team during breaking news and severe weather events.
• Collaborate with the digital team to ensure multi-platform content across all stages of gathering.
• Strategize with the executive team on goals to grow people, content, and audience.
• Build relationships with news sources and community stakeholders.
• Manage direct reports, schedules, and training of new employees.
• Provide feedback for the editorial team and evaluate workflows for efficiency.
• Adjust processes to improve coverage and newsroom operations.
