Job summary

WBFF-TV, part of Sinclair Inc., seeks an Assistant News Director to lead the production of daily newscasts and assign stories. You will work with producers, reporters, anchors and the digital team to ensure engaging, accurate coverage and strong newsroom workflow.

The role requires proficient writing, copy editing, and a commitment to journalistic integrity, with a focus on social media engagement and enterprise reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms.
• Working knowledge of journalistic ethics, libel, and privacy laws.
• Exceptional written communication using a conversational style.
• Ability to communicate under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong people skills with coaching and motivating others.
• Experience in research and public records requests is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee newscasts and review scripts from producers and reporters.
• Aggressively lead breaking news and severe weather coverage.
• Identify, research and develop daily content.
• Write compelling copy and post content to station website and social sites.
• Collaborate with news director to execute news philosophy and direction.
• Review daily newscasts for quality control and brand compliance.
• Oversee special projects and enterprise coverage.
• Develop and maintain contacts and sources for enterprise stories.
• Maintain efficient operations of the assignment desk.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
