Job summary

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's WUNC-FM in North Carolina seeks a Newsroom Intern for the WUNC Youth Reporting Internship. The paid internship runs for spring 2027, one or two days a week during regular business hours (Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM).

The intern will write and produce audio and digital stories for daily newscasts and online platforms, work with the News department, and may contribute feature stories as time allows. Administrative tasks may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least one year of related broadcast/media experience.
• Current enrollment as college student or recent graduate encouraged to apply.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Write and produce audio and digital stories for daily broadcast newscasts and online platforms.
• Work within WUNC’s News department, primarily with the daily news team.
• Opportunity to complete feature stories as time allows.
• Perform any administrative tasks or duties as assigned.
