Job summary

WEWS, The E.W. Scripps Company ABC affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio, seeks a Community Connections Coordinator to bridge our newsroom with the communities we cover.

You’ll cultivate relationships, surface story leads, coordinate events and listening sessions, and help journalists connect with trusted local voices that matter to readers and viewers. In this role, you’ll manage audience tips, support listening efforts, and surface credible community perspectives to inform coverage.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 5+ years in journalism, communications, community engagement, nonprofit work, events, public relations or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and trusted sources.
• Route audience tips and leads to newsroom teams with timely escalation.
• Support listening efforts and connect journalists with diverse community voices.
• Gather context for breaking and developing news coverage.
• Coordinate outreach, events, and community conversations.
• Assist with interviews and background information for newsroom staff.
• Manage event logistics, partner coordination, and post-event follow-up.
• Support audience engagement across digital and in-person channels.
