NewsNation is seeking a Segment Producer for the Weekend edition based in Chicago. You will pitch ideas, compile elements, and build engaging live segments across political, domestic, and international news.

The role is anchored in the Chicago office and requires a proactive, collaborative reporter to deliver accurate live hits and packages. You will work with correspondents to craft compelling content, manage timelines, and ensure smooth rundown flow.

Qualifications

• 2–10 years of experience in national or major-market television news preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge and experience editing video and creating graphics.
• ENPS or INews knowledge preferred.
• Excellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Pitch story ideas for NewsNation Live Weekend segments.
• Produce live guest segments and correspondent hits.
• Collaborate with NewsNation correspondents to craft compelling live hits and updates.
• Locate and create strong elements (video, graphics, lower thirds) and load into rundown quickly.
• Write, organize, and produce scripts including anchors intros and teases.
• Keep Executive Producer and Senior Producer updated on story developments.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by show leaders or news management.

Segment Producer, NewsNation Live Weekend (Chicago)

NewsNation is looking for a Segment Producer to join the team of the weekend edition of NewsNation Live based in Chicago. This role involves contributing story ideas, compiling elements, and building engaging live segments and packages based on a wide range of topics ranging from political news to domestic news to international news. The position is based at the network's offices in Chicago.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Pitch story ideas
• Produce live guest segments and correspondent hits
• Collaborate closely with NewsNation correspondents to produce compelling and accurate live hits and update with new details throughout the show
• Locate and create strongest possible elements to be used in guest segments and live correspondent hits - including video, graphics, lower thirds - and load them into the rundown quickly and accurately
• Write, organize, and produce scripts, including but not limited to anchors intros, guest segments, teases, reporter hits
• Keep Executive Producer and Senior Producer apprised of developments of stories
• Perform other tasks as assigned by show leaders or news management

Requirements & Skills

• 2-10 years of experience in national or major-market television news preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

• Knowledge of ENPS or INews preferred
• Excellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skills

Salary Range: $70,000-80,000 (commensurate with experience)
