Job summary

KQED Inc. is seeking a Vertical Video Editor (News) in San Francisco for a 1-year term.

The role focuses on creating platform-native vertical videos for social platforms, collaborating with reporters and editors to translate news into engaging short-form content. The ideal candidate has at least three years of video editing experience, expert use of Premiere Pro, and familiarity with After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Media Encoder.

Qualifications

Minimum of three years of professional video editing experience.
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and familiarity with After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Media Encoder.
Experience editing short-form, vertical video for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
Strong editorial judgment and adherence to journalistic standards.

Responsibilities

Edit high-quality vertical video content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and other vertical platforms.
Shape edits for mobile-first viewing with hooks, pacing, captions, graphics and sound.
Create captions, text treatments, lower thirds, graphics and other visual elements for vertical video.
Perform sound editing, color correction, basic motion graphics and other post-production tasks.
Prepare final video files and assets for publishing and distribution.
