Job summary

The KOMO station, part of Sinclair Broadcast Group, is seeking a full-time News Photojournalist in Seattle to cover day-to-day assignments, in-depth features, and investigative reporting. You'll shoot with Sony PXW-X400 cameras, lenses, lights, and carry out editing on Avid while transitioning to Adobe Premiere in 2027.

You must have at least 3 years of TV news shooting experience, strong editing skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Job description

KOMO is looking for a creative full-time News Photojournalist. We are seeking someone who can see beyond the lens and bring back compelling stories. The candidate should have 3 of ENG experience with a network affiliate news organization. You will cover day to day general, in-depth features and investigative assignments. We are shoot with Sony PXW-X400 cameras/Fuji broadcast lens, with dual wireless lavs, + Sony cubes with Sennheiser shotguns, Litepanel lights, and new tripods (hotpods and flowtech). We edit on Avid but are moving to Adobe Premiere in 2027. Each photojournalist has their own car and laptop.

You should have strong editing skills, possess excellent people skills, a strong work ethic, and a great attitude. A passion for story telling is absolutely essential in this position. This is not an entry level position.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of TV News shooting experience.
  • Knowledge and skills in non-linear editing (Avid, Premiere.)
  • Team-player who can produce good stories under tight deadlines.
  • You must be a problem solver that can think quickly in the field.
  • Knowledge of LiveU's, FTP, MIFI, Store and Forward is essential.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and be able to operate ENG news vehicles
  • Ability to edit and shoot general assignment stories, lives shots and natural sound packages under tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to lift and carry between 25 and 50 pounds on a regular basis

The hourly compensation range for this role is $31.25to $33.93. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans,flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
