Position Overview

WFTV, the ABC affiliate in Orlando, Florida, is seeking a part-time News Editor to join the Eyewitness News team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills, a strong background in television news/production, and the ability to work well under pressure in a live news environment. Flexibility to work mornings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Edit local and national news stories in collaboration with show producers and station staff.
• Utilize non-linear editing techniques using Avid Media Composer.
• Operate and maintain various technical systems, including non-linear editing equipment.
• Assist in the cleanup and maintenance of Avid system storage.
• Manage content sharing across multiple platforms and with other CMG properties.
• Identify issues with incoming content, evaluate solutions, and implement them.
• Handle tasks efficiently in a fast-paced news environment under tight deadlines.
• Work flexible shifts, including mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Perform additional duties as assigned and adhere to station policies.

Minimum Qualifications

• Proficiency in editing video using non-linear editing systems; experience with Avid Media Composer is a plus.
• Knowledge of Windows-based programs and ability to learn web-based applications.
• Ability to sit and work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
