KSFY/KDLT is an award-winning television operation serving viewers in the eastern half of South Dakota as well as portions of southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa. The stations operate from a new studio in downtown Sioux Falls as one rebranded organization called Dakota News Now. The facilities put Dakota News Now on the cutting edge of television and news-gathering technology, making it one of the most state-of-the-art television stations in the market and the region. The Dakota News Now team produces 38 hours of news each week.

Job Summary/Description:

Dakota News Now is looking for a dynamic anchor/multimedia journalist to join our newsroom. The ideal candidate will anchor and produce our weekend morning newscast and report three days per week.

We’re looking for someone with great news sense, energy, and a sparkling, dynamic personality to anchor a daily morning newscast. The ideal candidate must be able to produce compelling newscasts and memorable stories, thrive on breaking news but isn’t afraid to show some personality too.

Candidates must have excellent communication skills both on the air and in the newsroom. Someone who can handle breaking news situations on the air is a must. Also, one must possess a creative vision for what it takes to anchor a solid newscast.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Works with producer, news director, and assignment desk to plan daily newscasts
2. Must have excellent news judgment and journalism ethics
3. Must have strong writing, storytelling, and reporting skills
4. Must have strong producing skills (create a newscast rundown, write stories, build graphics, and coordinate with control room and field crews)
5. Must be skilled in social media and online news production
6. Must possess good organizational and time management skills
7. Must have the ability to shoot and edit your own stories and the ability to go live
8. Excellent live reporting skills required, ability to ad-lib during breaking news
9. Must be willing to work longer hours and different days as needed

Qualifications/Requirements:

1. Bachelor's or master's degree in journalism or related field
2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in on-air television news reporting, anchoring, and producing is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate
3. Basic experience with newsroom computer systems is preferred (ENPS)
4. Understanding of and adherence to AP Style (for digital platforms) and broadcast writing (for television)
5. Ability to operate a field camera, editing, and lighting equipment
6. Ability to lift/carry equipment ranging from 35-50 lbs
7. Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
8. Ability to represent the station professionally/responsibly in the community and newsroom, and on social media
9. Must have a desire to win, the ability to reflect on your work and apply feedback
