Simclair Inc. is seeking a dynamic, full-time Live Desk Anchor for Good Morning Alabama on WBMA/WJSU/WCFT. You will lead live desk reporting during breaking news, deliver traffic updates from the studio, and explain developments clearly to viewers.

The role includes filling in for primary anchors, appearing in midday newscasts, and leading an on-air franchise on a biweekly rotation. The ideal candidate has strong on-air experience, sharp news judgment, and a proven ability to engage audiences

Qualifications

• At least three years of on-air experience
• Live commercial television experience
• Strong live reporting skills, especially during breaking news
• Exceptional written communication skills and a conversational writing style
• Strong editorial judgment and a proven ethical foundation
• Flexibility to fill in for primary anchors and contribute to morning and midday newscasts

Live Desk Anchor — Good Morning Alabama

WBMA/WJSU/WCFT is looking for a dynamic, full-time Live Desk Anchor to join Good Morning Alabama. This role is central to our morning coverage: You’ll lead live desk reporting during breaking news, deliver live traffic updates from the studio and help viewers understand what’s happening as news develops.

The Live Desk Anchor also fills in for our primary anchors as needed, appears regularly in our midday newscast and leads an on-air franchise that runs every other week. We’re looking for an outstanding journalist, a confident communicator and a collaborative team leader who brings strong news judgment, a competitive passion to win and an openness to innovation. A strong social media presence and a commitment to engaging with the audience are important parts of the job.

• Strong writing and ad-libbing skills
• The ability to explain traffic conditions and breaking news clearly and quickly
